A tale about a tale

You see a black square on a screen. Not that interesting. Then, the black square starts moving up and down. Still not that interesting. Suddenly a coin appears located above, the square moves still up and down, but now it seems that it tries to reach the coin, but keeps failing. Already, we feel pity with the black square jumping hopelessly up and down not being able to reach the coin. A sad face appears on the square. Surprisingly quickly, we do not only infer intentions behind a moving object, but start identifying with a simple black square just through adding some humanoid features (Heider & Simmel, 1944).
